Everyone's looking for answers; sometimes life seems so complicated. Join us as we journey to the center of our selves. Discuss and learn about the human experience and who we really are, and discover how we can reconnect to God and to each other.
Messy Church is fun, faith, family and food. Children and adults share the love of Jesus in a relaxed setting, while exploring a Bible story through crafts, games, worship and a meal. Messy Church is a movement that started in the Church of England in 2004, it has spread to 30 other countries and dozens of denominations. We are the only Episcopal church in New Jersey to be part of this global organization, along with a half million other worshippers.

Messy Church – God is with Joseph
On June 6, Messy Church took a deep dive into the story of Joseph with all its ups and downs. A congregation of 28 explored the story through crafts and activities. The coat of many colors was represented by a tissue paper coat and a colorful snack of graham crackers, M&Ms, and Lifesavers. Gold paper plates were decorated with jewels to remind us of Joseph’s leadership in Egypt.
No-sew fleece pillows helped us recall the dreams, both Joseph’s dreams and those he interpreted. We made Lego versions of the Egyptian storehouses that held the grain. Finally, we had a forgiveness experiment in which an air-filled balloon pushed murky colored water (sin) into a cup. This showed how it is difficult to forgive, but God’s Holy Spirit inside us makes it possible.
We finished out the afternoon with yummy bag tacos. I think that might be our new favorite meal. A collection of colorful fruits rounded out the dinner. A date for our next Messy Church will be announced soon.
